“Native Steel” knives?

Hello, I understand that ‘native steel’ is a type of iron found adjacent to coal seams….

I have seen several knives for sale such as this one: http://www.amazon.com/CASE-XX-Yellowhorse-Native-Trapper/dp/B0038GDEPQ

that evidently make use of this metal. My question is, what are the advantages, (if any) of this metal over other, more common steel?

Real native steel is very very rare. (Look up “Telluric iron”). Nor would it have any advantages.

You’re probably looking at a marketing ploy.
