If a brand new knife that has been barely used in a 6 year period, can the blade lose it’s sharpness?

I’ve had my Winchester hunting knife for about 6 years and I’ve barely used it since then. Is it possible for the blade to lose it’s sharpness because of time? It’s not rusted because it’s always in it’s sheath but can aging reduce sharpness?

not really, but slight oxidation on the edge can cause this, you might not be able to see it, but there’s likely a small layer of rust on the edge, just enough to cause it to lose a razor sharp edge, but not seriously bad, just sharpen it, it’ll be razor sharp in no time.
also? was it sharp before hand, some production knives aren’t very sharp from the factory, usually of lower quality, winchester is one of these companies that can be cheap on they’re work.
