any book recommendations?

for me. I’m a 13 year old girl. I don’t like reading proper girly books either. I’ve read things like:

No “properly girly” books? Sounds like you are ready for adult literature.

George Orwell is a great choice. I read Orwell when I was 13.

I recommend any Kurt Vonnegut. Genius writer.

Some random books: The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, Catch 22, The Picture of Dorian Gray (A thrilling read) , A Clockwork Orange, The Count of Monte Cristo, and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.

And you said you don’t like girly, i bet you’d enjoy some romances written by the not brain dead.
Lady Chatterley’s Lover, The Virgin and the Gypsy, and Pride and Prejudice are all great books dealing with romance in intelligent, non chauvinistic ways.

Don’t make the mistake of going for adult “junk food” literature like The Da Vinci Code. Read that stuff after you have sharpened your brain on well written literature.

Oh, and if you like Roald Dahl, I would definitely recommend John Lennon’s poetry. Quite Dahlish, in humor and illustration, but a little more errm, adult in nature.
