Wild Mustang

Would you rather buy a wild Mustang or an OTTB as a project horse?

Just curious, would you rather have a completely wild BLM Mustang or a straight OTTB with no training other than racing?
And why?

I think a BLM would be easier – and I love thoroughbreds

They just get treated so roughly at the track. . . they don’t even know how to be horses. They are started before they are physically and mentally mature, and the training drives them nuts. In order to be useful, most need a 6 month – year break before retraining so they have the time to just be horses. And even then, there are many who can’t be handled by anyone except the rider with the light seat and gentle hands.

Mustangs, on the other hand, know who they are – they’ve had their chance to mature fully, be a horse, and grow into themselves.
