Will this battery replacement work?

I own a Victorinox swiss army knife with digital altimeter that needed a battery replacement. According to the user manual, the battery should be Panasonic CR 1225, 3V. However, I found that an alkaline AG10 (LR1130) fits perfectly well. The digital altimeter seems to work well, despite the fact that the AG10 battery delivers 1.5 V (and not 3 V as the CR 1225). My question is… will the digital altimeter work well with half the recommended voltage? Can the electronics be damaged if using 1.5 V instead of 3V? I also found the the CR 1225 is a lithium battery, whereas the AG10 is an alkaline one… would this affect the performance? Any advice will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

The alkaline battery won’t last as long. You should really use the right battery.
