Trapper Praying

How to not feel bad about a wild animal dieing?
We had a small groundhog problem. They came close to the house and got in our garage. My family hired a trapper to remove them but he said he’d have to kill them. They hired him anyway. He set traps and left. (We’re supposed to call him when we catch something). Anyway, I prayed nothing would get caught because I did not want them to die but one got caught. My mom is calling the guy and I feel bad but she wants him gone and I can’t go against her. Anyway, how do I not feel too horrible about this? I don’t want it to die and I really want to run out and release it but I don’t want to go against my mom.
I guess I forgot to mention this but someone who answered reminded me of it. My mom says it has to die because they are moving closer to our house. They already live under our shed and are chewing the shed and 3 days ago, one got in our garage.
Think of it this way: what is the tragedy in death? It’s mainly the fact that someone had wants and dreams that they did not achieve, coupled with the fact that you are going to miss them. Are you going to miss that gopher? Is anyone? His fellow gophers aren’t going to miss him either. That gopher doesn’t have conscious hopes for the future, he lives in the here and now. So, I hope that makes you feel better.
Don’t get me wrong, though, because I’m not using this to justify the needless killing of animals. When possible, you should seek to keep them alive. However, in your position where you can’t really do anything, you should think of the above.
