Modern Tactical Tomahawk Axes

Tomahawks were originally used by Native American tribes as a general purpose tool. A tomahawk’s shaft is usually less than 2 feet and made from a variety of different materials. Traditional tomahawk materials are hickory, ash, and maple. Today’s tomahawks are not that different when compared to traditional hawks. Featuring about the same shape and handle elements, modern tomahawks make great multi-purpose tools enjoyed by thousands. Tactical tomahawks are designed to operate as a weapon and as a general tool for opening locks and ventilating fuel drums. Cold Steel Vietnam Tomahawk

Tactical tomahawks were used during the Vietnam War by certain U.S. forces and these tomahawks became known as Vietnam Tactical Tomahawks. Latter shortened to Vietnam Tomahawks these Cold Steel tomahawk are dropped forged giving you great strength for cutting or blunt impacts. With high quality 1055 steel and weighing around 36 ounces the Cold Steel Vietnam Tomahawk Axe is light enough to be carried around all day without causing fatigue. The V shaped spike of the back of the head works well for hooking and piercing objects. Constructed from American Hickory the handle on the Cold Steel Vietnam Tomahawk is super strong and easily replaceable if broken.

SOG Fusion Tactical Tomahawk

The SOG Fusion tactical tomahawks are based on the Vietnam tomahawks but constructed with modern day materials. SOG’s Fusion tactical tomahawks are made from 420 stainless steel heads that provide awesome durability for multiple applications. Fiberglass handles cut down on the weight of these tomahawks making them great for throwing and other utility applications. The back of the head is ground to six angles giving you an added spike for razor-sharp penetration. All around a great fighting hawk for any outdoor sporting enthusiast on a budget.

Cold Steel Rifleman’s Hawk

The Cold Steel Rifleman Tomahawk differs from the two Vietnam inspired hawks above in that the back of the head is designed for smashing of objects and not penetration. This hawk features the same steel and handle material as the Cold Steel Vietnam Hawk. With a very sharp edge and great balance this tomahawk works great for throwing or hammering with the hammer-head style butt.
