deacorative swords illegal?
I live in NY state. i am working on buliding my holloween costume. i am going to be a guy with a sword. however, when asking my local state trooper about blades he said that anyting double edged and over 6 inches is illegal.
i have a metal katana that i am using. it is so dull i could saw it on my arm for 3 hours and only have a paper cut.
would it be illegal to wear it in the parade?
I wouldn’t think it is a good idea. In my sword collection I have several decorative ones that have dulled blades–while they couldn’t cut much the points sharp enough that you could do some serious damage—not a good idea in a crowd of people. Plus if a cop sees one they’re going to think ‘weapon’–and let’s face it, blunt or not, they still are (they’re not going to debate the quality of the edge lol).
