Sword Japan

How much would a samurai sword cost in japan.?
I am going to Japan in july and would like to know how much a samurai sword would cost their my friend says about $80 is he right and what is the difference in quality and prices as well thanks.
Okay, I’m sitting here with a recent catalogue from a local sword supplier in Fukui Prefecture. The catalogue says that swords can be broken down into two catagories. 美術 (bijyutsu) or art blades, and 居合い (iai) practical drawing swords.
The art blades run from about 8,500 to 25,000 yen. (86 – 254 dollars)
The practical blades run from 48,000 to 73,000 yen. (488 – 743 dollars) (Not including the 880,000 yen one!)
If you want to look at their website, you can find it here (in Japanese) http://www.yamatokikaku.co.jp
I’ve bought other stuff from their physical stores, including knives and outdoor goods for camping and I’ve always been very happy with their quality. Even if you can’t make it out here, you can at least have a rough pricing for a decent sword.
Hope that helps.
