Is it legal to carry a real sword in san diego, CA.?

I plan on going to the comic con next year, which is located in San diego, CA. I am hoping to cosplay, but the character i want to go as uses a sword. Is it legal to have a real metal sword, or not.

It is legal in California to carry a sword or other edged weapon, so long as it is not concealed. Swords that are disguised as canes, for example, are against the law without a permit.

Keep in mind that the lack of a state law does not keep private property owners from imposing their own requirements. Stores, hotels, office buildings, restaurants, and other individual property owners can impose whatever terms they want for people coming onto their premises.

I am sure you are not the only person who wants to carry a sword at Cosplay, so check with them before you bring yours. They will have updated info about any restrictions at the site.
