Stone Sharpening

Which is better, waterstones or a diamond sharpening stone?

I’m just looking for something that will keep my blades sharp and worth the money but I’m not actually sure which is better between the two.

For a really dull edge first use a diamond stone then finish the job with a water stone or preferably a oil stone.I have had far better results with oil stones.
