Steel Kudu
Is this knife legal to carry in New Jersey?
I live in pennsylvania, one of the few states that seems to experiance some freedom in the knife world.
I carry a Cold steel Kudu (4.25 inch folding knife that can only be opened with two hands) and a Cold steel Rajah 2 (A massive 6 inch folder coming to an overall 14 inches that can be opened with one hand) on me at all times. My intent behind the Kudu is for primarily utility, but could serve as a defensive tool in a pinch. My intent behind the Rajah is vice versa, a defensive tool that could serve as a utility tool in a pinch.
I’m taking a trip to Jersey, so my question is, is it legal for me to carry my 4.25 inch folder, and 6 inch folder on me in New Jersey?

Neither of those knives are legal in NJ.
Criminal Justice Code of NJ 2C:39-5d -
Other weapons. Any person who knowingly has in his possession any other weapon under circumstances not manifestly appropriate for such lawful uses as it may have is guilty of a crime of the fourth degree.
What this means is that if you are a butcher, at work in a butcher shop, that is a circumstance that is manifestly appropriate for the use of a butcher knife. Walking down the street with a butcher knife in your pocket is not such a circumstance and will result in your arrest.
If you are actually fishing or hunting and carrying a fishing or hunting knife, that would also be a circumstance that is manifestly appropriate for the use of those types of knives. Carrying one around a shopping mall is not such a circumstance and will also result in your arrest.
There are no circumstances that I can think of that would be appropriate for the use of those knives that you have.
(Self defense is not legally recognized as a legitimate use. After all, you don’t need weapons as the police will protect you. Remember, when seconds count we are only minutes away!)
