Where is the the lab in Fallout 3?

I wanted to wear the power armor of the brotherhood of steel, but it doesn’t let me wear it. I talked to one of the knights about that and he told me that I need permission from an elder, which he told me he is usually near the lab. Where is the lab???

I found Gunny, the guy who teaches you to use Power Armor, in the yard of the Citadel (near the outside shooting range). There are two doors leading from the Citadel yard. One is near the entrance that has two guards standing outside and a plaque next to it labeled A Ring. The other door is on the other side of the yard labeled lab. Inside the lab is the giant robot Prime One.
