What would be a better hunting rifle ?

What would be a better all round hunting rifle for Eastern Canada hunting. In dry but cool weather in the fall or snow in the cold winter months.

I am an Alaskan hunter.

It depends on what caliber and how great a shot you are.

If you are an excellent shot, or, have a smaller rifle you can practice on – the Featherweight is a great hunting choice. However, these lightweight rifles in a belted magnum or 30-06 like caliber are gonna clobber you with recoil – so – be sure to invest in a muzzzle brake.

I have owned both. I use the Win more in the summer because it fits my arm lenght better with just a shirt or light jacket…….. and the Rem 700 I have seems to fit better in winter with a really heavy jacket. Word to the wise – be sure to wear the jacket you plan to hunt in when you go to the store and hold these to shoulder!
