How do you make a spider web out of string?

i am doing this mythology project with some friends and in one of my scenes the goddess Minerva turns the mortal Arachne into a spider. she changed her into a spider because she challenged Minerva into a weaving contest. so i need to resemble a web (made from string) that they made. HELP ME!!!!

First you need a small ring of plastic or metal, about 1 inch in diameter. This will form the center of your web. Decide how big you want it to be and cut 12 skeletal strands of string. These are the ones that run from the inside all the way to the outside and anchor the web in place. Tie these onto the ring. Using tape, anchor the ends to whatever you need to use as a framework. If the web is to be small, say three feet in diameter, use a plastic hula hoop as your frame. Once you have the tension adjusted correctly so the ring is tight from all sides and in the middle of your frame, tie off the ends. Now start tying off the internal strands – you can do this totally random, in concentric circles, or as perfectly parallel and symmetrical strands. If you want the web to be a little stiff, so it will retain its shape better, you can mist the web with a mix of water and Elmer’s glue, or give it a few coats of white spray paint. Add a pull apart spider web (the store-bought kind) around the edges to camouflage the framework. Attach a spider or two and you’re done.
