what is the best brand of Refrigerator to buy?

We are buying either an Amana French door/freezer on the bottom or a Sears Kenmore Elite French door; same specs. Do you recommend an extended warranty on either of these? Five years is about $460/three yrs $310 or so.

Here is the deal, most of the brands out there are just as good as the others, as they are all made by the same 4 companies. They all just get different names on them. As for the protection agreement, it can go either way. I have had fridges last 2 years and I have had them last 10 years. It’s a 50/50 deal. I know that Sears has a 12 month buyers remorse on lawn and garden, so ask what it is on the appliances. That way, even if you buy it up front, you can go back in 11 months and get your money back. Some items have a need for the protection agreement, and some don’t. For instance, a treadmill needs it, and a dryer doesn’t. A fridge is right in the middle and I would say that you will probably be fine, because there is usually a manufacturers defect warranty on most items. The other side is that you want to make sure to protect your investment.

If you pay with American express, all of the manufacturer warranties are doubled. American Express doubles it and then you just take the claim to them.
