Sog Pentagon

SOG Pentagon or a Cold Steel Tanto Knife?

Comparing two knifes see which one is better.

They are very different knives. It really depends on the intended use.
If it’s just for collecting then whichever looks better for you.

If for utility use then I think Pentagon will fare better due to more conventional edge geometry. Tantos originally were designed to improve armor penetration properties of the knife blades.
For utility uses tanto points are plain awkward.

I owned CS recon tanto, not much of a utility knife, but did chop pretty well for the knfie of its dimensions, mine was older version with better version of Carbon V steel – http://zknives.com/knives/fixed/prod/csreta.shtml. New ones aren’t as good.

On the other hand, SOG is stainless steel, definitely softer and CS will hold better edge if that’s your concern. However, if you need serrations then pentagon is a better choice obviously.
