How to Check your Custom Folder Designs for Mass Production

Before you “roll out the presses” and start folder printing you must always check them for errors. You should not take the risk on multiplying a typographical or design error a hundred fold. At times like this it is good to have a quality checklist for folder printing so that you can have the peace of mind as you move forward with its mass production. Below is a typical example of a mass production checklist for custom folders. Try to jot these things down so that you can learn something.

1. See if you have the proper template – The first thing that you need to check is your folder template. Is it in the right dimensions that you want for your folders? Can the printer accept the template? Does the folder template compensate for pocket positions if needed? Are the folds and curves clearly marked in the design? Try to check these small details one by one so that you don’t make a mistake in printing the wrong kind of folders.

2. Check your designs for errors – Next, you must check your designs for errors. Are there any misplaced images and other design elements? Are you using the right theme? Is the alignment of the design right for the folder? Do your pictures have the proper resolution? Check your designs in per inch and print sample printings if you want so that you can accurately see if your designs are as perfect as they can be for folder printing. Never let any speck of error pass so that the mass production of the folders starts and ends without a snag.

3. Check your text content – Of course, if you have text content, it is also a good idea to proofread them. Sometimes small and hardly noticeable typographical errors can come up and be noticed big time after printing. This can be detrimental to your folders, especially if they are presentation folders since you need your folders to have a perfect design and the perfect text. So proofread your folder content to prevent any typographical errors from appearing.

4. Anticipate color corrections – Another good thing to check are the specific colors of your folder design. Sometimes printing digital designs suffer from a distinct color shift as they change your design from RGB colors to CMYK for printing. To prevent any kind of misunderstanding with the color, it is best to design your folder template in the CMYK color mode initially. This should show the correct color that you most likely will see in real life once the folders get printed.

5. Determine your file formats – As a quick note, do not forget to see what type of file you are using for your file folder designs. See if this matches with what your folder printer wants you to use. If there are any problems, it might be best to just save multiple versions of your folder designs so that the printer can choose the best one for them to print.

6. Review your folder material choice – Finally, try to review your folder material choice. If you plan on using your folders inside for presentations for example, then you may want to use a professional looking material with a high gloss finish. However, if your folders will be exposed a lot of environmental effects, then it might be good to invest in something tougher and thicker so that the folder can protect the paperwork inside.
