Scottish Regimental

Scottish Regimental
Trying to find a British Church I once visited in Northern England/Scotland?

Back in 2000 my family and I took a tour of Britain. We started in London, made our way to Cornwall, Wales, over to York, through the Scottish Borders, then back down through the Lake District. On the way back down, either in the lake district, or still in Scotland, we stopped a quaint and beautiful church.
I don’t remembers the name, but what I do remember was that it was roundish in shape (I remember the tour guide saying it was built round because evil spirits could only hide in corners or something), seemed to have a lot of wood and was in a wooded area. I remember flags and banners hanging above the pews (for some reason I thought they were regimental banners). And I believe they said it had something to do with the Queen, or at least *a* Queen. It was a beautiful church but I just can’t remember the name of it, or where it was precisely. So if any of this description rings a bell, please let me know! Thank you in advance.

I did a google search and apparently there’s only two round churches in Scotland- one is on the isle of Islay (Bowmore) here:

http://www.armin-grewe.com/islay/islay-churches.htm

I coudn’t find the other one but maybe you could contact the author of the article?

In England I found this:

http://www.druidic.org/camchurch/churches/camsepulch.htm

http://googlesightseeing.com/2009/08/englands-round-churches/

But most of these are in the South of England and I think you are looking for Border country (i.e Scottish/English borders)

and then there’s round tower churches:

Here’s a Wiki link:

Anyway, if you go to Islay – pick up a bottle of malt (I understand the Laphroaig is the best!)

Highland Broadsword: Five Manuals of Scottish Regimental Swordsmanship

$21.87

The basket-hilted Scottish “broadsword” or Claymore has long been a symbol for Scottish independence and the fierce regard in which Scots warriors are still held. While the rest of Europe emphasized the use of smaller, lighter swords or curved cavalry models, the Scottish weapon retained its medieval flavor. Veteren swordsmen and accomplished authors Paul Wagner and Mark Rector present five key tr…
