Things Every Man Wants Or Thinks He Wants
It doesn’t matter whether he’s an accountant or a cowboy, there are some things every man wants. Whether he’ll ever use them or not is another matter, but if he doesn’t have them, he wants them. What are these things and why do men want them.
There are a few men who can afford to indulge themselves in whatever they think they want. If they’re looking for a luxury watch and can’t make up their mind which one to buy, they just buy one or two of each. For these guys, it doesn’t need to be a toss up between a flashy sports car and a luxurious sedan. They can afford to buy both. A guy might live thousands of miles from the ocean, but he’ll still buy a yacht.
What are luxury goods, after all, other than things men want? They certainly don’t need them all. All these things are is fantasy fulfillment for men who can afford them. What the rich do with their toys is interesting and says something about us all. Think about how few luxury yachts ever sail the open seas or how many fast sports cars ever go over the speed limit.
The same goes for less expensive things we can all afford. Take the dreadnought acoustic guitar, for example. Perhaps only one out of ten of them gets played properly while the rest get their strings plucked once or twice and then are retired to the closet. Quality guitars are fantasy fulfillment for the rock star in us all.
If you live in a crowded city, a mountain bike is not a necessity unless you’re a bicycle delivery boy. That doesn’t stop a man from buying a Schwinn mountain bike, though. Who can blame him? It may come in handy and taking a ride around a suburban block is a lot better exercise than none at all, even if he only goes through 3 or 4 out of the 24 available gears. In a lot of ways, it’s what the bike represents that’s important. Not how much you need it.
All a man needs is an excuse and he’ll run out and buy a homelite chainsaw, even if it’s just to cut a few twigs off a tree in the yard. Men love everything about chainsaws. They love the feel of them, the sound of them and the way they effortlessly cut through wood.
Who is going to blame a guy for indulging his fantasies once in awhile? We all work hard and go through our day to day lives. It’s a great feeling to just buy something that feels good to have once in awhile. It doesn’t matter how often we actually use it. Sometimes, just having it is more than enough.
