Wedding Conventions Which Are Liked By Everyone

Wedding traditions and customs are an imperative element of each marriage. These wedding customs and practices add a dash of serendipity and pureness to every wedding. Though there are countless wedding customs and traditions, there are a few that are more favored. Here are some of them.

Marriage veil is undoubtedly the most popular convention and custom that has been doing the rounds since ages. It has long been a practice the bride shouldn’t show the face to the groom prior to the commencement of the ceremony. This is where the wedding veil comes in handy. Likewise it is said to be a bad omen if the face of the bride is not covered. So the wedding veil apparently performs the function of warding off the noxious and envious forces around.

Another tradition is the prevalence of white color in just about all sides of marriage. The dress of bride is meant to be white. Particularly since Victoria of the United Kingdom wore a white dress to her wedding ceremony, it became the accepted norm which stays to this day. Likewise , it is believed that a lady who wears white on her marriage day chooses the right man. Other colours like black, gray etc are not thought to be good for wedding day.

Rice has been a main component in wedlock rites around the world. An important tradition is to throw rice at the new couple. Rice is the symbol of prosperity and fertility. It is assumed that if rice is thrown at the new couple, they will prosper in life and will have a great relationship with each other. It’s a method to wish a good married delight.

You would have noticed that in a wedding rite, the bride is often kept on the left side of the groom. The tale behind this is that there was a chance of potential suitors trying to grab the bride away. Here the right hand of the groom was supposed to be free to dissuade any such attempt. Now the chance of such an attempt is nearly extinct, yet the tradition of bride on left carries on.

One of the most common and popular wedding custom is the wedding kiss. The wedding kiss did not evolve as a result of some creative imagination. Instead, this wedding convention goes back to the Roman times. The kiss was claimed to be a symbol of the legal sealing of the wedding. For for the marriage to be considered legal, it was important that a 3rd person witness the kiss.

The bridal bouquet is another important tradition of wedding ceremony. Whereas the modern act of a bride carrying a bouquet is more of a style factor, earlier the bouquet was supposed to hold herbs that protected the bride from malicious spirits.

It is all thanks to these countless marriage customs and practices that the wedding makes for a pure union of two souls.

MTV Unplugged in New York

$4.53

The last Nirvana collection recorded before the untimely death of Kurt Cobain, Unplugged caught many by surprise with its stripped down, neo-acoustic offerings with a bridled fury. When Cobain sings, “I swear I don’t have a gun, I don’t have a gun” with clenched teeth (instead of an open howl) and when the haunting strains of “About a Girl”–from their earliest LP–chills even with quieted guitars…

This documentary about the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor is not so much about the events on the morning of December 7, 1941, as it is about the long series of events that brought America and Japan to open conflict. The rise of Japan as both industrial and naval power is contrasted with what the documentary openly declares to have been racist attitudes toward Asian nations exhibited by many Ameri…

Talk about dated: This limp 1976 comedy, based on a flop Broadway play, deals with a pair of middle-aged African-American parents (Redd Foxx and Pearl Bailey), who are aghast to discover that their window-dresser son (Michael Warren) is gay and are ready to disown him for it. Though it’s still a viable subject, it’s treated here with a smirky sense that homosexuality is some kind of dirty joke. Wh…
