How can a fix a 12.in by 5.in hole in wall by only using patching plaster and putty knife …..?

I have a pretty good sized hole in my wall but I need a way to fix it only using patching plaster and putyknife and maybe garrilla tape……. Plz help me and tell me how using these tools or similar tools

I had to fix a hole in my plaster wall recently after my old heater flue had to come out. What I did was get 2 thin lengths of timber (say 5mm thick). Cut to length and put in behind the plaster where the hole is (one at the top and one at the bottom of the hole). Hold the timber in place (or use a small clamp) and then drill one end through the plaster and into the timber baton. Put a screw in (make sure you countersink it) and then do the other side. Repeat with the other piece of timber.

Measure the hole and cut a new piece of plaster board to fit. Screw the new plaster piece into the batons you have already fixed to the back of the wall (again, countersinking the screws). If your hole is a jagged or round one you will need to cut around it to make a square or rectangle shape to fit the new plaster board. A sharp utility knife should do the trick. Score the plaster first a few times and then cut through (use a ruler to keep a straight line).

You don’t need to buy any tape for this if the piece you cut fits snugly into the hole. When you push the new piece of plaster in it will rest up against the battons and will make it flush with the rest of the wall. Get some plaster putty and fill around the gaps of the new piece and the holes where the screws went in.

Give it a sand with some fine sandpaper, paint and you’re done.

All up it should take you about half an hour to fix this.
