Parker Safety Razor, provide a good close shave?

Looking to buy a Parker Safety Razor, see that there are a few different models and blades to use, anyone got any recommendations. Also when using a Parker Safety Razor any tips to avoid cutting my face up would be great.

Parker is definitely a good starter razor. The butterfly styled ones will give you a closer shave than the vintage ones, but you need to make sure you have got a really good lather on your soap and make sure you use warm water. Using a safety razor isn’t too different than using a gilette mach 3 type of razor. Just make sure you don’t try to shave around any bumpy areas (like if you have acne or something, it’ll cut those right off – not in a good way either).

If you want a classic safety razor, I’d take a second look at the Merkur razors.
