The Top Recordings Of Frank Sinatra Is On LPs

Many listeners insist on hearing Old Blue Eyes’ authentic vintage sound as millions of fans have heard it since the 1940’s. For its intense tone and realistic sound reproduction, Frank Sinatra vinyl is the serious listener’s choice. Classic vinyl reproduces Sinatra’s deep, rich vocal tones with surprising accuracy. In addition to high-quality sound, Sinatra LPs include the large, colorful artwork that packaged the original recordings. For the listener who wants the highlights of Frank’s career, there are many discs to sift through. With dozens of albums and a song list topping 1,100 entries, Sinatra was an active recording artist.

The Chairman’s studio work can be best summed up by studying the several periods that define it. We can get a handle on his career by looking at the records pressed on Columbia, Capitol and Reprise. Vinyl LPs of his music from all three eras are on the market. Kick off with the Capitol Records releases, which many assert to be the singer’s top material. Sample some Capitol tracks pressed between ’53 and ’60, such as “Come Swing With Me,” “Point of No Return” and “Frank Sinatra Sings for Only the Lonely”. Besides producing numerous gold records in this era, Sinatra also took home an Oscar for his role in “From Here to Eternity”. Pick up copies of some of Sinatra’s top Capitol recordings with albums such as “In the Wee Small Hours,” “Songs for Young Lovers” and “Songs for Swingin’ Lovers”.

Sinatra founded Reprise records in 1960, and recorded songs he most cherished. At Reprise, Sinatra called all the shots, but the music he produced was not quite as high in quality as was his Capitol work. In 1963, Warner Brothers bought Reprise from Sinatra, although the founder continued to exercise creative control at the label. Sinatra and his crowd, Joey Bishop, Peter Lawford, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr., known as “the Rat Pack,” were synonymous with the Las Vegas Strip. At this point, the Rat Pack starred in the casino robbery movie, “Oceans 11”. select albums like “My Way,” “September of my Years,” “Sinatra-Basie,” and “Ring-a-Ding-Ding”.

Records from the start of the Sinatra catalog include his pressings with Tommy Dorsey. Sinatra and Dorsey released music for two years, and then Frank hopped on board with Columbia. Unforgettable tunes from those days include “Frankly Sentimental” and “Swing and Dance with Frank Sinatra”. “Portrait Of Sinatra: Columbia Classics” offers a great assortment of early material.

If you locate many of these classic vinyl recordings you’ll be on the road toward collecting a good cross-section of Sinatra’s finest work. Give a Sinatra disc a spin and listen, and soon you’ll discover, if you haven’t already, why the Chairman’s music, like great architecture, is eternal.
