Learning to Appreciate the Cultural Heritage of Spain Reflected in Architecture

Spain is famous worldwide for its part to the world of architecture; a lot of the most beautiful and influential pieces of architectural structures in the world can be found in Spain. Spain is one of those countries that really put much store in protecting their cultural heritage through preserving architectural structures. It’s not a surprise that many people find Spain to be more than suited for a unwinding an educational vacation; it does not just boast of the most beautiful beaches and the most welcoming residents, it’s also quite a cultural fascination.

Naturally, one has to be correctly prepared before attempting to go on a vacation outside of their country; there are many things that could go exactly, and more things that could go wrong. It’s important to know a little bit about the culture itself and what people there would consider to be rude and polite; it’s also important to know how to get help when you need it because there’s nothing more uncomfortable than being marooned in a foreign country without knowing who can help you out if you need it. A better way to find great deals and better travelling plans when you are in Spain is by asking the locals; yes a lot of them understand English, but there’s an advantage if you know how to speak Spanish which can be arranged by visiting through sites like Rocket Spanish. Rocket Spanish or Bust is an excellent tool that can aid you in learning to speak Spanish.

You’ll be surprised that there are still a lot of prehistoric structures that are preserved in Spain, especially in areas like the Balearic Islands and Avila. For instance, the funeral chambers in the Balearic Islands have been there since the Bronze Age, but the government has done everything they can to preserve it for posterity; this is one of the oldest structures in Spain, but it’s still well-safeguard and sustained. Structures in this place are mostly made up of tombs and burial sites with different geometric shapes; there are also similar structures in the area which still exist and are still well-preserved, and they are used as protective structures much like watch towers.

During the Roman period in Spain, a rise in religious buildings can be noted, which isn’t exactly a stun, given that the Roman conquest also produced their strong religious influence on Spain. The cultural influences of Rome could be seen in the creation of churches in the style of the temples of Cordoba and in the Talavera la Vieja. There was also a propagation of churches like the temples of Cordova plus the Talavera la Vieja; as history changes the culture of nations, it leaves its mark everywhere.

As Spain becomes more affected by French and German styles of architecture, buildings verged on a more Gothic type of influence. The Cathedral of Avila, for example, is considered to be the first Gothic building in the country. The Cathedral of Avila was the foremost of numerous Gothic buildings constructed in Spain.

There are more places that can get you better accustomed to the history of Spain through its architecture. Such is the power of history that one can understand the present more by understanding yesteryear.
