Making Brass

making holes in brass shims?

I have .010, .070, .050 brass sheets for shims. I cut out the shims, but my gasket punch hole maker is not cutting throught the sheets. It is only damaging the shim. How else can I make the 1/2 inch hole in these shims?

Gasket punches are to be used for just that…gaskets. I’ve always drilled through thin metal by clamping the shim between to pieces of wood and then drilling it through.
