Why has my lock key fell off my Nokia N97 Mini?

I slid down the locking bar and it came loose then fell off! WTF? Is that common?

The N97 and N97 Mini are notoriously cheaply constructed phones, it’s funny because Nokia touted the N97 as an iPhone killer but they were well off the mark in pretty much every area (horrible OS, crappy hardware, lack of marketing).
