Which Swiss Army Knife is better? *10pts*?

It is incredibly difficult to pick an all-purpose knife for someone else, even if you know him very well.

I’m a bit of a knife freak myself, and spent over 20 yrs in the Army, so I asked myself which one I would be more likely to buy for myself.

Frankly, I believe I’d pick #4. It’s simple, basic, and isn’t going to bulk up the pocket. It doesn’t have all those fancy extras … but generally those are pretty bad compromises for the tool they’re trying to replace.

For me, I’d pick # 4 — AND also get him a good-quality Leatherman multi-tool, with a pouch. The total should be about the same as the high-end Swiss tool, but he’ll have much more useful, functional tools overall. I think he’ll find this combination a lot more useful, both in the Army and for general carrying, with better choices of what to carry under different circumstances.
