Does knife crime cause people who would never think of carrying a knife for protection to actually carry one?

it might, but it’s not a good idea. unless you know how to use a knife to defend yourself, you really shouldn’t carry one. it’s way easier for someone to get it away from you and hurt you with it if you have no clue what to do with it. better to carry pepper spray or mace, like the first person said.

by the way, to the other person, not everyone is able to avoid walking places or using public transportation after dark, so people should just be careful if they do.
