what is the hook on a Swiss army Knife used for?

Ive recently bought a swiss Army Knife for my backpacking trip. I have the ‘Motorist’ model (blue and ltd edition) ive noticed that it has a hook (as do some of the other models)
what on earth would i use the hook for? its kind of chunky and not at all slim so i couldnt try and fish things out with it im sure…can anyone give me an idea as to how it would be used/in what circumstances?
It may be an odd question and the answer may be obvious to everyone but me, however i fail to see the use of it!!!
im not sure it would be ideal for cleaning horses hooves/ shoes out as its really the wrong shape. I suppose it could be used but i dont thing it would be very efficient. The hook is pretty small and very rounded at the end….not really an open hook if you see what i mean http://www.amazon.co.uk/Victorinox-Swiss-Army-Knife-Motorist/dp/B000IAZDCM

If it is on the back side of a Victorinox Swiss Army knife it is a multi use parcel carrier. It was designed to carry a parcel by the string that they were traditionally wrapped it. It can also be used to open a knot and some other minor uses. It is a lesser utilized tool on a Swiss Army Knife.
