Knife Deer

i am making a knife handle from a deer horn?
my very cheap (7 dollars, lol) but very good steel, today i dropped it and knowing it was 7 bucks the handle was plastic and so it broke, this weekend while walking threw my sisters yard i found a short peice of deer horn, and i told my self “that would look nice if i could cut the horn in two and make it as a knife handle, so whats a good tool to cut threw bone, my step dad said it would stink like high heaven if you started cutting threw it, but it looks quite old, would it still stink……..if my idea doesnt turn out the way i wanted it to be, anyother good “home made” handles i could possiably make, best anwser always gets the ten
if you cut it slow with a hacksaw, it shouldn’t stink
will be tough to cut and you will have to file and sand to get two flat slabs
you can always wrap it with parachute cord or one custom maker wraps with cotton twine saturated with epoxy
years ago I cut a short section of a hickory sapling, dried it for a year with bark on and then split it to put on a knife. It worked well for 10 years or so but eventually shrunk and loosened up
I like micarta for my knives now
