The Santoku is a Japanese cook’s (or chef’s) knife, featuring a low-tip style with a broad blade. The cutting edge is minimally curved, so it provides less rocking action than a European-style cook’s knife. A cross between a cook’s knife and a vegetable chopper, each knife features an exceptionally sharp cutting edge that slices through vegetables and meats with more ease than the thicker cook’s knife. Alternating hollows on each side of the blade create air pockets and minimizes the food’s ability to stick to the edge, which makes for easier, more efficient slicing. Crafted from a single seamless piece stainless-steel, the knives are then hardened and tempered for maximum edge retention, ease of sharpening, and long-lasting durability. Great for chopping – but one problem

This is a great knife set. My husband loves the weight, the grasp, and most importantly the blades themselves. However, after less than a month of having them (and washing by hand), the larger knife has developed some rust spots. Now, I realize that stainless isn’t “stainnever” but I would have expected the silver luster to remain for a bit longer.

Good Cheap set of Knives

Bought this set to replace some we got for our wedding eight years ago. I was a bit skeptical given the price, however I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of these blades. Obviously, these are not “chef-grade” knives, but I cook almost every week night and I am constantly chopping veggies and such and these do the trick. They are very sharp, have a good weight to them and have not slipped when cutting through tougher and slippery items (like just washed potatoes). Have seen others with complaints about rusting and I suggest hand washing your knives…this will cut down on premature dulling as well.

I usually get very skeptical when it comes to ‘sets’. I took some chef courses in college and I must tell you that this set is unbeatable. The smooth texture and the design makes the cutting and dicing a breeze. From vegetables to meats these knives really does the job. I would recommend this product to any domestic diva or wanna be chef or even the non amateurs (real every day chefs) to try this product. It makes a GREAT GIFT and a MUST product for any kitchen.
