Which sword is better? Dao or Katana?

Does anyone know which sword is better? Dao or katana?

The Katana has more western appeal and therfor touted as superior, truthfully though, a masterfully crafted dao, or jain is far better

The Jian is made using 3 layers of steel, one hard layer between two springy layers. This provides a hard edge and prevents bending. The katana uses a single steel differentially hardened to produce a hard edge, this leaves the spine prone to bending.

Sharpness is a direct result of blade geometry and thickness not sword type. Trust me a shaving knive is sharper than a katana and it is made of cheap stainless steel.

if you purchase a Katana and a Dao at the same price the differance is clear, unfortunatly most daos available on the mass market are poor imitations or used for wushu performance
