Hilt Broadsword

Swords????????????????????????????????????

I was just wondering how double broadswords are joined together. Does the hilt has to be flat on one side?
And also, it would be better to give me a picture, or even the measurments.

For most double broadswords, the handles are sculpted to look like someone cut it in half down the middle, including the hand guard.
