Anyone know about vintage yamaha guitars? Nippon Gakki Co. Ltd?
hey i came across this what seems to be anolder Yamaha guitar. I found info on many others but not really anything on the one i got. Its an acoustic 6 string , darker wood neck, sides and back with lighter front. It has a label inside, says Yamaha G-200D, Nippon Bakki C0. Ltd , made in japan. the label looks maybe redish brown designs and gold writting. The top right corner has a gold circular stamp with numbers under it. there are 4 numbers and it looks to say 9202, not 100% sure if those are the numbers. Any info would be great, guitar sounds great, curious about it. thanks much
I’ve never had a Yamaha, so I can’t tell you much, but made in Japan does mean it’s an older one.
back in the 70′s, all Yamahas were made in Japan, as their costs rose, they started making some in Korea, to lower costs
by the way, Nippon Gakki means “Japanese Music”, in English.
They started as a music co, and expanded into all the other lines, that they now make.
Their logo, is 3 tuning forks, over lapping.
They used to use that on their bikes too, I don’t know if they still do?
