does cleaning a cd or video game disc really work?

so i was searching the web for ways to clean your scratched cd’s and i saw that you can clean disks with tooth paste so does it really work?

i would ‘nt try that,you could not only break your disc but at the same time you could be endangering you pc,dvd player….etc..!!!you can use alcohol more efective
