how can i stop feeling guilty about becoming a fire fighter?

i want a career as a fire fighter but i recently heard that fire fighters stay in the fire house and sit all day. i cant help but to feel guilty for sitting around and getting paid..how can i stop feeling guilty and continue to pursue the dream i always had in mind?

I WISH we sat around all day. I do more in this job than I ever did in any other I have held in my life.
