Probably–it appears as if you push the thumb stud on the blade to open it. If Amazon is selling it then it is very unlikely that it is a switch blade. By the way, switchblades, gravity knives, butterfly knives, daggers, etc. at not illegal to own in California (though they are illegal in some local jurisdictions). State statutes do not prohibit owning them, just prohibits carrying them. Of course, you need to check with local law enforcement to check on the specifics of any knife.
