Is the SOG Pentagon Elite II such a bad knife? What about it vs an Emerson?
I had one that dented at the tip. When shown to one of my friends spent so much time bashing the “cheap” metal used, and locking mechanism, he then told me to buy emerson.
So are SOG knives really that bad?
I know that the knife is made with VG-10 metal, which is usually used in high grade kitchen cutlery. Would it be too delicate for a folding knife?
I dented the knife when it was hit against a stone wall, I know what I did, and am not blaming the knife, answer the question ,dont make a comment…
I’m also asking the question because my friend said outright and angrily the SOG SUCKs, outright SUCKs, when i asked him what do with the dent and wanted to really know if it did
You are comparing apples to oranges. The Emerson start at three times the price compared to the SOG pentagon elite II. SOG knives are not bad at all.
I own half a dozen Emersons. For me they are not worth the price tag. They are almost two hundred bucks, I am not going to use them for everyday chores, I have a knife that has replaceable razor blades for stuff like that.
For self defense purposes as what the emerson is marketed towards, folders have no business in this realm. I carry a dedicated fixed blade for this purpose.
