Can I take a folding knife into Dublin, Ireland?

I have a Blackhawk folding knife, with a blade 3.75in. long. It is NOT a prohibited/illegal weapon in Canada, and I’d like to take it with me to Ireland where I’ll be touring Ireland and Northern Ireland, doing a lot of camping. Hence, using it for camping/recreational purposes, not as a tool of defence/offence.
From what I could find its illegal to carry a concealed pocket knife for illegal purposes, similar to Canadian law, but my concern is having trouble getting it through airport customs upon arrival in Dublin.

Contact your air carrier for info….you may need to put in a checked bag….or you may need to buy one in Ireland, use it for camping and then leave it there….airlines are strict for the safety of everyone.
