Best knife for combat?

What is the best knife for combat? I personally carry around a fixed blade Bowie with a 7″ blade, just in case things get messy. Not too long not too short, and heafty enough to cut off a couple things. Yep, wouldn’t trade it for the world.
And for any smarta$$es who send me replys, yes a gun would probably beat a knife in a fight. But I’m talking about a situation with NO GUNS, where you are fighting someone else who has a knife. And I’m from the South. EVERYONE down here above the age of 6 carries a knife, and can use it without hurting themselves. It is a tool and a weapon. I’m not asking for trouble by carrying my blade, you friggin Yankees.
Also, the situation has come down to a fight. THERE IS NO OTHER POSSIBILITY. You can’t call the cops and if you don’t win your family will be skinned alive. There, is that clear enough?
