I have an old steel camping knife, it is rusty, how do I fix that?

I havean old steel of some sorts, camping knife. It is all rusty on the ends where the pieces unfold. What can I do to get rid of it. Soak it, or some kind of disolver? Help

To clarify about the WD-40… use is along with steel wool to clean the knife, not to lubricate it. WD-40 does help disolve rust, but is a horrible long-term lubricant because it dries out and leaves a gummy film behind. So clean the knife using WD-40 and some fine steel wool, and then wash it off with soap and water and lubricate it with some of the oterh products others have already listed.
