I pushed the lock button on my access master garage door opener. How do I unlok it?

The door tries to shut but then opens again. Sometimes if I hold the lock button and the open button it will close. Also the light starts blinking on and off. Can someone help me unlock it please?

Most likely the “travel” or “force” of your door needs to be adjusted. There are settings that help determine how far up/down the door travels so that you can adjust it a few inches to close a small gap. This is the “travel”. If the travel is set too far, then the door is attempting to close too far and the “force” sensor kicks in.

The force sensor is a safety feature that prevents the door from closing on an object or person. When a certain resistance is met, the door usually reverses, and the lights flash on/off to alert you that something blocked complete closing.

So, if the door is trying to close too far, then the pressure of the door motor will cause the force sensor to trigger and the door reverses.

Also, if your force sensor is right at the edge in sensitivity, then sometimes the simple closing will actuate the sensor, meaning it is set for too little force.

You can test the force sensor by placing a block of wood such as a short 2 x 4 in the path. The door should hit the 2×4 and reverse.

I would probably check the force first, since it sometimes seems to work. The controls are normally on the motor housing.
