is this an illegal use of blackmail?

My cousin came to visit the other day and asked me to get somethin’ out of his ruck sack for him… and i came across some photo’s of him dressed as a girl…. he didnt do it ofc lol he as a girlfriend so he is no puff but… it was from a stag night he went on and he was pissed and his m8s did it… im sure he was planning to destory the photo’s because the brown evolope it came in said “to burn” would it be illegal to ask for a small favour in order to keep quiet?

It’s wrong to blackmail him, just give him back the photos & let things go.
