What spider has smooth legs with a black/brown hairy back?

My friend found this spider in his house, he sent me a picture and I had never seen one before. It is alittle bit smaller than an average mobile phone. It’s body is brown/black and fuzzy looking, not hairy like a tarantula, and it has brown looking smooth legs and where the legs hit the body there are white bands going around the are. Also eyes appear to be big for it’s size. Found in orange county California, anyone know what kind it is? I would add the pic but I don’t know if I can.
