Brown Gunstock

Can Danish Oil Finish be applied over an oil based stain?
I am refinishing a chest of drawers. It is pine. This has turned in to a long labor of love. I stripped off the coats of crap. The layer include from the wood up-black stain-brown paint-some kind of clear lacquer. I wasn’t able to remove all the black stain so I sanded and sanded.
Some of the black remained but I stained over it with Minwax Wood Finish in Gunstock. The results look like my wood floors which are Tiger Wood. Heres a pic I found on google- http://picasaweb.google.com/barreled/TigerwoodAtOurHome#5228671704052927522
I don’t want a hard sheen surface like lacquer, but I want it to be sealed. Will the danish oil work?
You will really protect it better with a good grade of varnish. It is available in a matte finish so it does not shine.
I would not use the oil on it for good long lasting results.
