Bowie Machete

Are these knifes legal to buy and own in California?

I know a lot about knives and knife laws in California but im having trouble deciding. California law claims that bowie knives or fighting knifes are illegal. I want to buy both these knives but i don’t know if there legal to own in California. The main reason why i cant tell if its legal is because the website doesn’t say anything about them not being able to ship to certain states. Can anyone help me out? Thanks

I have no idea where you, or other other posters, have gotten your information. The only knives which state law says you cannot carry are switchblades. (Pen C 653k.) Neither knife you mention is a switchblade. They are both fixed-blade knives, which makes them “dirks or daggers” under California law, so you could not carry either concealed on your person. (Pen C 12020.) They would also be illegal to possess in government buildings, school grounds, or the sterile area of an airport.

You can carry any folding knife concealed on your person, so long as it is not in a fixed open position, if it can be fixed open.

There may be some applicable local (city or county) laws, which may or may not be enforceable.

There is no law prohibiting the possession of straight edged razors (except on school grounds), nor any requirement that barbers get permits to transport them! *lol* I have never heard that one before.
