Does this Seem Unnecessary?

Im getting a knife for my birthday its a smith and wesson swat tactical knife its blade is 2 1/2 ” long and im 12 does this seem unnecessary becuz thats what my friend said it is

Don’t take it to school, don’t even talk about it at school, you know how overly protective everyone is now days. Like the others have said, it’s a tool, use it like one, it’s not a toy so be careful. For a 1st pocketknife the blade length seems to be plenty. My daily carry knife for the last 5 years or so has a 3″ blade, not much longer than the knife you carry.I also have a SW Swat tanto linerlock knife with conversion.Great knife and will last you a long time if you take care of it.
