Blackhawk Blades

Do police helicopters have to be marked?
I just watched a movie with my dad the helicopter was all black had no markings and i knew it was a blackhawk because 1.) All black 2.) NO marks 3.) The size of the rotor and blades. Im like oh thats a blackhawk. My dad said it wasnt because a blackhawk would have to have guns, air to ground missles, etc. I still argued it was a government helicotper and not a police one because police helicopters have to be marked POLICE. He cobats that with if ”two guys are robbing a bank and a helicopter flies by and isnt marked then the criminals wont know who it is if it isnt marked.” I still think thats not true.
Police Helicopters do not have to be marked ‘police”. Many police departments actually lease their helicopters from a private company. The usual helicopter they use may have “police” markings on it. However, when the helicopter goes in for service a similar helicopter is provided by the leasing company without police markings. News and medical helicopters are usually leased in the same manner.
I don’t know of any US police department that could afford to purchases – let alone – maintain a blackhawk helicopter.
