The Reason Tyres Are Black

As new cars develop we start to see complex technologies come to light, as well as that we are starting to see a whole to shape to cars. But one section that has not changed since the development of the first ever motor is the colour of tyres. Whatever destination you go to around the world you will see a vehicle that has black tyre. This has baffled me for months so recently I made my way to the car and tyre manufacturers to ask them the reason why?

After my thorough investigation I have come to the conclusion that tyres are always black because of one of two reasons.

1) Firstly tyres are specifically made black for a scientific reason. The black colouring is basically carbon powder which is added to the rubber. What the carbon in itself does is to streghten the tyre.
2) Tyres have not always been black in colour, In the early 1920's they used to in fact be white, but they cost manufacturers a fortune because they just would not last.

So the answer is right there, tyres are made black by carbon which strengthens them. Ok if you really wanted unique coloured tyres then they could be painted. When you think about it though, how long would this paint really last? 7 Days? 30 Days? 12 Months? In the end if the paint is being slammed on the floor at 70mph it is bound to come off in no time what so ever. So if any one asks you the question. Is there a reason that tyres are black? Then you can understand what to tell them in reply.
